LEV Testing & Certification

Testing By Experienced P601 Qualified Engineers

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) estimates that 12,000 deaths a year are from exposure to chemicals and dust. The LEV Regulations, also known as COSHH Regulation 9 covers the use of LEV systems. COSHH Regulation 7 requires that:

“Every employer shall prevent or, where this is not reasonably practicable adequately control the exposure of their employees to substances hazardous to health”

Over time, the performance of a local exhaust ventilation (LEV) system can get worse. This can be due to blocks, leaks, damage or wear. As a result, LEV systems need regular LEV testing and examination.
It is a legal requirement through Regulation 9, that employers that use LEV systems must arrange for a test at 14 months intervals or fewer.

The Management of the Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 requires that employers must ensure that the person carrying out the test is competent. Our P601 staff will carry out the LEV testing of your LEVs to make sure they are still working correctly, ensuring your company complies with COSHH Regulation 9. If your test shows that your LEV systems are not working as required we will tell you what’s wrong and more importantly, the way to correct it.
